18 cars and 12 semi-trucks were involved in the crash on Wednesday morning east of Ellensburg. There is no word yet on injuries.

KITTITAS, Wash. — Washington State Patrol shut down eastbound I-90 on Wednesday morning near Kittitas after a crash involving approximately 30 vehicles. Washington State Patrol said the crash involved 18 cars and 12 semis.

WSP reported the closure just after 5:30 a.m. It stretches for more than 10 miles from milepost 115 to milepost 126. WSP said it estimates the road to be closed for 10-12 hours.

There are some detours on local roads, with WSDOT telling drivers Vantage Highway is open, but drivers should avoid the area if possible.

At this point, it is not clear what caused the accident or if there are any injuries.

The National Weather Service had forecasted patchy freezing fog in the area this morning. Photos from the crash scene appear to show foggy conditions and icy roads.

The temperature at the time of the crashes was in the teens.

Grant County is sending Fire and EMS resources to help with the multi-vehicle collision. The Grant County Sheriff did warn to expect westbound I-90 to be icy with possible fog.
