SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane Chiefs forward Berkly Catton has been selected 8th in the first round of the NHL Draft by the Seattle Kraken. Catton is the first Spokane Chiefs player to be drafted in the first round of the NHL Draft since Ty Smith in 2018.
The 5-foot-10 center out of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, totaled 116 points in his second full season with the Chiefs, scoring 54 goals while assisting 62 of them. He's the second-highest-scoring 17-year-old in Chiefs history. Catton was also named the U.S. Division's Player of the Year and named to the CHL's Second All-Star Team.
Chief's fans gathered at the Spokane Arena Friday to cheer on Catton as he takes the next steps in his hockey career.
