MILWAUKEE -- Spokane native Erin LaVoie took first place at the Timbersports Women’s Division Championship on Saturday.
LaVoie is one of the top female lumberjack athletes in the country. She qualified for the championship by finishing in the top eight out of 40 top athletes in June.
STIHL Timbersports is in its 33rd year, but is only in its second year of the Women’s Division. For the first time in the sport’s history, the women competed on the same stage as the men. The Championship took place at German Fest in Milwaukee.
