SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane's professional women's soccer team has a new name, crest, and colors! The team revealed all of the new details at a historic event at the Davenport Grand Hotel on Sunday.
According to the team, the newly named Spokane Zephyr FC symbolizes the power and force for change in the community. Spokane Zephyr FC will be part of the Division I USL Super League.
Spokane Zephyr FC will also have another team in the USL’s W League, the nation’s premier pre-professional women’s league.
“This is a historic day for Spokane, and I am proud to be from Spokane and helping this city to lead a transformation in women’s professional soccer in America,” said Katie Harnetiaux, President of USL Spokane and co-owner of Aequus Sports, which owns the club. “The USL Super League and Spokane Zephyr FC will give opportunity to hundreds of talented woman athletes, coaches, administrators, and staff members to pursue a career in professional soccer. And the level of play – higher than any we’ve ever seen in Spokane – will wow our fans, inspire our youth, and grow our economy.”
The team's crest features a stylized Z representing wind and change, with colors including Impact Blue, Basalt, Palouse Gold, and Cloud. The club aims to inspire youth and grow the local economy. The event welcomed over 2,000 community members who could purchase merchandise and secure season ticket deposits.
The team store in the Davenport Grand Hotel will soon feature Spokane Zephyr FC merchandise. Merchandise for the team is available on their new website. Fans can make season ticket deposits or join a waitlist once capacity is full.
