Union Omaha ends Spokane Velocity's underdog run with 3-0 win in USL League One Final

Omaha scored twice within 20 minutes to put the Velocity in trouble early.

PAPILLION, Neb. — Despite a magnificent run to the USL League One Championship match, the Spokane Velocity was defeated 3-0 by Union Omaha in the final.

Omaha struck for two goals within 20 minutes and fired home a third late for good measure in a dominating championship performance.

After a magical run of two road victories to make the final, the Velocity looked overmatched in the title tilt.

Omaha put the Velocity on their heels with early pressure, which led to breaking the scoreless tie just over twominutes into the match when Max Schneider headed home a corner kick to put Union Omaha up 1-0.

16 minutes later, Omaha doubled the lead as Marcelo Lage could not control the corner kick and left a loose ball in the box for Pedro Dolabella to slam home to put Omaha up 2-0.

The Velocity had some chances, but ultimately could not get the ball across the goalline today and in the 71st minute, Lagos Kunga sealed the USL League One Championship for Omaha with a tidy finish into the side netting.

It marks the end of a tremendous inaugural season for Spokane, which saw the club overcome five consecutive losses towards the end of the regular season to make an unexpected playoff run.

Spokane will now regroup in the offseason before beginning the 2025 regular season in March.
