SPOKANE, Wash. — It has been an up and down season for the Spokane Velocity in their inaugural season as a club, but on Saturday the Velocity clinched a USL League One playoff berth.
Despite falling to the Greenville Triumph 3-2 on Saturday, the Velocity had accumulated 26 points on the season, which due to other results, was enough to punch their ticket to the postseason.
Strong months of March, where the Velocity won three matches, and September, where the team won two, were key to lifting the Velocity to the playoffs this season.
Captain Luis Gil has had a terrific first season in Spokane leading the team in scoring with five league goals and being tied for second in assists.
Forward Josh Dolling also scored five league goals in his first season in Spokane.
The Velocity has two more games remaining in the regular season beginning with a road test on Saturday against the Northern Colorado Hailstorm. Kick off for that match is set for 6 pm.
