First Look: Spokane Velocity FC's 2024 Season

The Velocity's first game is slated for Saturday, March 9, 2024, against Greenville Triumph SC in South Carolina.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Excitement for soccer in Spokane is growing with the announcement of three new teams coming to town. Now, we're getting a first look at the schedule for the Spokane Velocity FC's first season.

The Velocity's first game is slated for Saturday, March 9, 2024, against Greenville Triumph SC in South Carolina. The club's first home game will be the following Saturday, March 16, against the Richmond Kickers at One Spokane Stadium.

Tryouts for the Velocity have taken place in Seattle and Spokane, while Leigh Veidman has been named the team's new head coach.

"I am humbled to be chosen as the first head coach of Spokane Velocity FC and extremely excited about what the future holds for the club and the community of Spokane,” Veidman told KREM 2 News.

The Velocity's 2024 season includes home-and-away games with every League One team, an Expo '74 anniversary special, and a brand new League One cup tournament.

“We’re really excited about the balance in the season schedule, with all the teams playing each other twice,” said USL Spokane owner Ryan Harnetiaux. “It’s going to be really awesome to see how rivalries develop in our first year. While there will be natural rivalries with the teams in the western U.S., we expect we’ll see some intense competition with teams from around League One.”
