SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane Velocity FC fans! The team just announced they will be taking on the Richmond Kickers on March 16 for the club’s first home game and the first professional soccer game at One Spokane Stadium.
The March 16 match will be the first of 16 home games for Spokane Velocity FC.
USL officials say the rest of the schedule will be released in December, but they confirm the March 16 match will be the second of the season for the Velocity. The club will open the season on the road against the Greenville Triumph on March 9.
“This is an exciting time in Spokane. It’s awesome to be hosting such a well-established team in our very first game in ONE Spokane Stadium,” said Phil Harrison, Vice President of Spokane Velocity FC. “We cannot wait to see what the rest of the schedule will look like.”
Velocity FC will be just days old on the pitch, but they will be taking on the Kickers who have been around since 1993, making them one of the two longest continuously running professional outdoor soccer clubs in the United States.
The match announcement comes just days after the club announced the hiring of Leigh Veidman as the first head coach of Velocity FC.
