SPOKANE, Wash. — Gonzaga men's basketball's non-conference schedule became a little more clear on Thursday when North Carolina announced the Tar Heels and Zags will play on December 18.
Take a look at what's been determined and what is yet to be determined.
OTHER NON-CONFERENCE GAMES CONFIRMED
Gonzaga is heading to the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament in the Bahamas from November 27-29.
On December 14, the Zags will hit the road to take on Arizona. The two teams played last season on neutral court at the Maui Invitiational.
On December 18, North Carolina is coming to the Kennel. Gonzaga could actually play UNC in the Battle 4 Atlantis too since the Tar Heels are one of the eight teams in that tournament.
The last game we know the exact date for is Eastern Washington making the short drive from Cheney to play in Spokane on December 21st.
WASHINGTON AND TEXAS A&M GAMES STILL UNDETERMINED
The Texas A&M Aggies and the Washington Huskies are two opponents for sure going to be on the Zags non-conference schedule.
The Texas A&M game will be on the road this season. This is part of the home and home deal made with the Aggies.
As for the date, the best guess would be something similar to last season. The Zags took on Texas A&M on November 15 last year. So there is possibility for Wednesday November 13 or Saturday November 16th this season.
Home and home and homes are usually played on similar dates both years. Examples would be Zags playing Creighton on December 1st in 2017 and 2018. With North Carolina, the two teams played December 15th last year and the game is December 18th this year.
We can apply that same logic to the Washington showdown. Last year these two teams squared off on Wednesday December 5th.
It's very possibly that game gets a little more hype and it's played on a Saturday this year. December 7 makes a lot of sense.
The two teams will play in Seattle this season.
