The 48 Idaho Panhandle National Forest campgrounds saw a significant uptick in visitors last year, officials say, and reservations are already filling up fast for the summer season.

IDAHO, USA — Idaho State Parks has announced a change to how people will reserve camping spots going forward. The conversion to a new reservation system will result in a months-long pause in reservations for 2025.

During the reservation pause, which starts on August 1, people will be able to book stays for the remainder of 2024. However, reservations for 2025 will be paused until 7 a.m. on January 6, 2025.

“The blackout is necessary to migrate from the current reservation system to the new one, which requires the transfer of park facility and customer information from one network to another,” said Seth Hobbs, Reservation & Registration program manager for the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation.

Customers will bookings in 2025 already will have their bookings switched to the new system automatically.

“We apologize for the inconvenience, but the pause will allow us to make a smooth transition to the new reservation system, which is intended to provide a more user-friendly experience,” Hobbs said. “Customers will find easier navigation, better tools and new functionality.”

Idaho State Parks says customers will have an easier booking experience with fewer clicks, more info about parks and events and more pictures of cabins in the new system.
