November 1st was a devastating day for the WSU football program. On their third drive against USC, Connor Halliday suffered a broken leg while getting taken down by Leonard Williams as he threw his 1,013th and final completion for WSU.
Thursday, for the first time since that afternoon, the Ferris grad discussed the injury.
"When I was getting tackled I knew I was gonna break my leg," Halliday said. "I've been tackled like that 70-80 times in my career. I heard it happen. Then you go into extreme pain and thinking 'I was so close to the end of the season'. You're so close to finishing your season and you break your leg.
"I wouldn't have it any other way, there's nothing I can do about it now. Be the best leader I can be from afar, and get ready to hopefully have a career at the next level."
Halliday is still on crutches, but doesn't expect to be for much longer. He is healing quickly and should be running in about three months, with a full recovery expected in about 4.5-to-5 months.
Connor will work out in Washington State's Pro Day, which is expected to happen in late March. He said he has been told that the injury shouldn't impact his NFL Draft stock too much because it was a broken bone rather than ligament damage.
Halliday will take part in senior day festivities at the Apple Cup.
