PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University freshman Myles Rice has been named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week for the fifth time this year. This marks the second time the redshirt freshman won the award in back-to-back weeks, matching the WSU program record set by Mouhamed Gueye.
This announcement comes after Rice led the Cougs to an overtime win against the University of Washington. Rice finished with 18 points, five assists, five rebounds, two steals and only one turnover. All of this, including the game-winning three-pointer with five points in overtime.
Rice is also projected to break the WSU Freshman single-season steals record, leading the team with 37 steals and averaging 1.68 steals per game. Those numbers put Rice fifth overall in the Pac-12 and at the top as a freshman.
The WSU men's basketball team is in the middle of a road swing, playing Oregon State in Corvallis on Thursday, February 8 at 7 p.m.
