MOSCOW, Idaho — The Vandals motto this week may just be "dome sweet dome."
Idaho is coming off a tough loss on the road at Weber State 31-29. Now, the Vandals close out the regular season with a rivalry matchup against Idaho State in the return of the Battle of the Domes.
The last three games in this rivalry have been in Pocatello, but this time around it returns to the Kibbie Dome, giving the Vandals the opportunity to send off their seniors with a win and all but guarantee a spot in the playoffs.
"Very excited to be back at home. Again, you played 10 games and seven on the road, you're definitely anxious to get another home game. And, you know, we gotta take care of our business," Idaho football head coach Jason Eck said.
"Any senior day, but you know, these guys, this is my first opportunity to be a head coach. And now in my second year, I mean, I have great bonds with these guys," said Eck when asked about the importance of senior day on Saturday. "Those guys just mean a lot to this place and helping you know, these guys really were helpful to me and kind of getting our program established and getting this thing started. So, I'll be forever grateful to those guys for their contributions. And you know, the exciting thing is that if we can play really well hopefully it isn't their last game in the Kibbie Dome."
"We gotta finish the deal and I think it'll be a lot better feeling going into Selection Sunday, you know, getting that eighth win, I think we're for sure in. I don't want to be on the bubble. I don't want to be there hoping your name pops up, like it was last year. It's a lot better feeling when you're trying to figure out where you're going," Eck said.
The Battle of the domes will kick off at 4 p.m. on Saturday in Moscow.
