GREELEY, Colo. — Marcus Harris had a game sealing pick six with under three minutes to play as No. 3 Idaho knocked off a very game Northern Colorado team 27-13.
The Bears hung tough with Idaho all game long and had two chances to tie the game late, but the Idaho defense prevailed in both situations.
Idaho took a 10-0 lead late in the first half on an Anthony Woods touchdown run, but the Bears cut the lead to three right before the half on a Shea Kuykendall touchdown pass to Kyle Helbig.
Idaho regained its 10 point cushion in the third quarter on a Gevani McCoy touchdown pass to Hayden Hatten.
Northern Colorado cut the lead to seven on a Hunter Green field goal to begin the fourth quarter.
On the ensuing Vandals drive, McCoy was intercepted by Ladavion Osborn, which set up the Bears with a golden opportunity to tie the game, but the Idaho defense held UNC to another Green field goal.
Ricardo Chavez kicked a field goal to give Idaho a seven point lead with 4:45 to go.
On the ensuing Northern Colorado drive, Kuykendall overthrew his receiver into the arms of Harris, who returned the interception 70 yards to put the icing on the cake.
Idaho improves to 7-2 on the season and will face Weber State next weekend in Ogden, Utah.
