MOSCOW, Idaho — Hayden Hatten re-wrote the record books at Idaho as a wide receiver. Now, he hopes to become the first Vandal taken in the NFL draft since Kaden Elliss in 2019.
Hatten accomplished about all that he could as a Vandal, breaking the program's record for career receiving touchdowns with 33. He also finished second all-time in receiving yards with 3,449 and receptions with 244.
Hatten said he's spoken with multiple teams and thinks he has a shot a being drafted. From the feedback he's gotten, it sounds like it will be in the later rounds. Either way, he'd be thrilled to be one of the 257 players taken.
"I really hope a team takes a chance on me and I get drafted. That'd be fantastic. It'd be a dream come true," Hatten said. "If not, I know with the amount of teams that have shown interest in me, I'll be able to kind of have a pick of the litter in what situation fits best for me."
"It's an exciting time, but there's definitely a lot of uncertainty. Because, you know, you hear some things and I've had multiple people tell me I'm on their draft board but they have to pull the trigger on it," Hatten said.
If not taken, it's very likely Hatten will catch on with a team as an undrafted free agent. If he is drafted, he'd be just the second Vandal in the past 12 years to hear their name at the NFL Draft.
