Former Idaho Vandal Hogan Hatten makes Detroit Lions roster

Hatten beat out veteran Scott Daly for the Lions' long snapper job.

DETROIT — Former Idaho Vandal and undrafted rookie long snapper Hogan Hatten has made the Detroit Lions 53 man roster to begin the season.

Hatten beat out four year veteran Scott Daly for the job and will be the Lions' starting long snapper week one against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night Football.

The twin brother of former Vandal wide receiver Hayden Hatten, Hogan began his college career as a linebacker before making the full time switch to long snapper ahead of the 2022 season.

He went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft, but quickly signed a free agent deal with the Lions and began the competition for the long snapper job.

Hatten becomes the first Vandal graduate to make an opening day 53 man NFL roster since Kaden Elliss in 2019.
