PULLMAN, Wash. — For the first time in history, the Washington State women's basketball team is ranked in the preseason AP top 25. WSU is ranked 24th in the nation.
The Cougs return almost their entire roster from last season's Pac-12 tournament championship win and added a top 10 scorer in the nation in former Idaho Vandal, Beyonce Bea.
Charlisse Leger-Walker and Bella Murekatete were both named to the preseason All Pac-12 team ahead of their final seasons in Pullman.
Four starters from last year's team all return and Bea should fit in as a strong replacement for last year's team leader, Ula Motuga.
Johanna Teder and Tara Wallack will round out the starting five for Kamie Ethridge along with Leger-Walker, Murekatete and Bea. Astera Tuhina figures to play heavy minutes off the bench as well.
WSU begins its season against Montana Western in an exhibition game on October 29th before officially opening the 2023-24 slate against Cal Poly on November 6th at Beasley Coliseum.
The Gonzaga women's team is receiving votes, but was unranked in the first AP poll of the year.
