Isaac Jones named PAC-12 player of the week, Myles Rice earns fourth straight freshman award

Rice is now tied with Evan Mobley as the most decorated freshmen in the history of the PAC-12.

PULLMAN, Wash — A huge week for Washington State men's basketball is off to a roaring start following the Cougs entering the AP top 25 for the first time since 2008 Monday.

That news was buttressed by the Cougs sweeping the PAC-12's weekly awards. Graduate forward Isaac Jones was named PAC-12 player of the week and Myles Rice was once again named the PAC-12 freshman of the week.

This is the second time this season Jones and Rice have swept the conference's weekly honors, a feat which had previously never been accomplished.

Jones led the Cougs with 21 points and nine rebounds in the win over Cal on Thursday and followed that up with another double figure performance on Saturday against Stanford to surpass 1,000 career points.

Rice becomes the first freshman since the inception of the weekly award in 2019 to earn the honor four consecutive weeks.

This marks Rice's seventh freshman of the week award of the season which ties him with Evan Mobley for the most in the award's history.

Rice had a game high 25 points against Cal on Thursday and had 14 points in Saturday's win over Stanford.

WSU has won seven consecutive games and will play for first place in the conference Thursday night in Tucson against No. 4 Arizona.
