LAS VEGAS — The Washington State men’s basketball team will be back in action for the first time in a week as the number two seed in the Pac-12 tournament. The team received a bye into the quarterfinals of the tournament because of their top four finish in the conference during the regular season.
The men will take on No. 10 Stanford this Thursday.
The Cougs are in the midst of one of their best seasons in over a decade. They finished with a 23-8 overall record and were 14-6 in Pac-12 play. WSU beat top seeded Arizona twice during this season.
On Tuesday, freshman Myles Rice won Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and Head Coach Kyle Smith took home the Pac-12 Coach of the Year award.

The game tips off in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Thursday, March 14 at 6:00 p.m. The game can be watched on the Pac-12 Network.
Washington State University Pac-12 Quarterfinal game
Washington State and Stanford is one of the longest tenured matchups in the Pac-12. The two teams have been playing each other since 1917 with WSU trailing in the all-time series 27-52. Since 2004, Stanford and WSU have played four times in the conference tournament. WSU has lost all four of those games.
In the 2023-2024 season, WSU beat Stanford both times with the average victory being 13.5 points.
Maxime Raynaud leads Stanford in points, rebounds and blocks per game. He averages 15.6 points, 9.6 rebounds and nearly a block per game. The Cardinals average nearly 76 points per game while the Cougs average nearly 75 points per game.
