PULLMAN, Wash. — WSU guard Cedric Coward was named the West Coast Conference player of the week after combining for 52 points in the victories over Northern Colorado and Eastern Washington.
Coward matched his career high with a 30-point performance against the Bears on Monday night. He followed that up with a 22-point, nine rebound and seven-assist performance Thursday night against his former school.
Over the two games, Coward was 19-30 from the field and 5-11 from beyond the arc.
This marks the first WCC basketball weekly award given to a player at Washington State.
Gonzaga's Graham Ike was also nominated for the weekly award.
The Cougs are now 5-1 on the season and will now head to Palm Desert for the Acrisure Holiday Invitational. WSU will face Fresno State on Tuesday night. Tip-off is set for 9 pm.
