PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State men's basketball received a verbal commitment from a not-your-average location on Tuesday.
Tomas Thrastarson, a 6'6" guard from Iceland, announced his commitment to WSU via Instagram along with a CBB Europe post on X.
Thrastarson averaged 17 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game last season in the Iceland-Subway League, the top level of Icelandic basketball in the region.
247Sports gives Thrastarson a prospect rating of 70, making him a 2-star prospect.
The addition of Thrastarson marks the seventh for the now David Riley led Cougs this offseason. Three of which have come from Riley's former Eastern Washington Eagles in Ethan Price, Dane Erikstrup and Lejuan Watts.
There is still plenty of work to be done on filling out the Cougars roster for the upcoming 2024-25 season as 12 players from last season's roster entered the transfer portal.
Three of the 12 to enter the transfer portal are still uncommitted, which includes Jaylen Wells who averaged 12.6 points per game and shot 41.7 percent from three point range in his one season in Pullman.
Wells is currently going through the NBA draft process.
