PULLMAN, Wash. — The Washington State Cougars are honoring a 13-year-old who was killed in a car crash near Rosalia, Washington over the weekend.
In a press conference Monday afternoon, an emotional Jake Dickert announced the team will be wearing "ZB" patches on their helmets to honor Zion Bischoff, who was killed in a car crash on Saturday.
Dickert said Bischoff was friends with his daughter, Rylee.
"From our football program to the Bischoff family, we just really offer our condolences, prayers and thoughts, and everyone with our community, we're with you," Dickert said.
According to Washington State Patrol, a semi with a trailer was driving south on Highway 195 when the driver lost control on the icy road and hit the car heading north.
