WSU's Jaylen Wells drafted by Memphis Grizzlies in second round of the 2024 NBA Draft

Wells averaged double-figures for the Cougs last season helping WSU reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2008.

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The Memphis Grizzlies have drafted Washington State guard/forward Jaylen Wells with the 9th pick in the second round (39th pick overall) of the 2024 NBA Draft.

Wells, an All-American transfer, averaged 12.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game in his one season in Pullman. A season that earned him an honorable mention on the All-Pac-12 team.

Wells began his career at the division two level at Sonoma State University where he averaged 22.1 points and 8.7 rebounds per game in his final season.

He transferred to WSU ahead of the 2023-2024 season and etched his name in Cougar lore with a clutch four-point play against Arizona in Tucson, which helped the Cougs upset the Wildcats and become ranked in the AP poll for the first time in 16 years.
