PULLMAN, Wash. — The Washington State Cougars are losing more players to the transfer portal; this time, it's a big loss for the WSU women's basketball team.
Star guard Charlisse Leger-Walker entered the transfer portal on Tuesday after missing the remainder of the 2024 season due to tearing her ACL on January 18th. Leger-Walker led the Cougs in points and assists despite missing the final two months of the season.
Leger-Walker averaged 13.2 points, 5.1 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game. She played in 21 games in the 2023-24 season, Leger-Walker totaled 278 points, 137 rebounds, 107 assists and 36 steals, and recorded a pair of triple-doubles.
According to WSUCougars.com, Leger-Walker, "is a three-time All-American and earned Preseason All-Pac-12 honors for the third-straight season in October. She has also three times been named to the Ann Meyers-Drysdale Watch List, Ann Meyers-Drysdale Top-10, Wooden Award Watch List, and Naismith Trophy Watch List."
Leger-Walker led the Cougs to the school's first ever PAC-12 tournament championship last season and was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.
She scored a career high 40 points in a loss to Washington on December 11, 2022.
Leger-Walker leaves WSU as one of the greatest Cougs to ever wear the uniform. Leger-Walker's departure now begs the question if head coach Kamie Ethridge will also leave the school for a power five job.
