PULLMAN, Wash. — The Washington State Cougars will now have two new coordinators next season.
WSU announced earlier on Monday that they fired defensive coordinator Jeff Schmedding after two years in Pullman. Now, they will be without their offensive coordinator.
WSU offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle has finalized a deal to become the next offensive coordinator for the Oklahoma Sooners, according to an Oklahoma University press release.
Arbuckle led the Cougs to a top-10 scoring offense in all of college football, averaging just under 37 points a game and totaling over 5,000 yards of offense.
He was also instrumental in the development of Miami quarterback Cameron Ward and WSU quarterback John Mateer.
Arbuckle was hired in January 2023 after spending the previous three years at Western Kentucky.
The Cougs now await which bowl game they're playing in after finishing the regular season with an 8-4 record.
Head coach Jake Dickert has not announced who will call the plays for the Cougar offense in the bowl game at this time.
