AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Women's Basketball team's promising 2023-24 season came to an end on Sunday in Portland, after they fell to NC State 76-66 in the Elite Eight.

The Longhorns struggled on offense for much of the game, converting on only 40% of their shot attempts. The Wolfpack, meanwhile, were efficient all game, led by junior guard Aziaha James' impeccable 27 points. James finished with an impressive 53% shooting percentage.

The Longhorns were led in scoring by Madison Booker, who had 17 points. The team was plagued by turnovers all game.

A win in Sunday's game would have set the Longhorns up for a trip to Cleveland for a Final Four matchup with undefeated South Carolina, who won earlier in the day.

The team will now face a bit of a retooling in the offseason. The future appears to be bright, with Big 12 Player of the Year Madison Booker returning for her sophomore campaign. It's also believed that team leader Rori Harmon will return after missing almost the entire 2023-24 season with a knee injury.

However, the team does face a number of likely departures that will see key seniors like Shaylee Gonzales, DeYona Gaston, Austin native Shay Holle and tournament standout Taylor Jones leave.
