Here's what time the championship game between Washington-Michigan will actually kick off

The game airs on ESPN on Monday night.

SEATTLE — If you already googled it, you know, the College Football Playoff Championship between the Michigan Wolverines and Washington Huskies is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. PT. But that's not when the game actually kicks off. 

The actual kickoff, following the pregame festivities including a national anthem performance by Fantasia, will take place at 4:45 p.m., according to the NCAA. 

Pregame coverage will start much earlier, but the official game broadcast begins at 4:30 is on ESPN. 

ESPN begins coverage of the game at 11 a.m. PT with "College Football Live," followed by "Championship Drive" at noon. Then at 2 p.m., "College Game Day" starts and will be followed by even more pregame coverage until kickoff at 4:45 p.m.

The Huskies are looking to win the school's first national championship in the College Football Playoff era. The last UW title was in 1991. 

Michigan, the No. 1 seed, is the favorite to win the game. There have only been three upsets in the history of the College Football Playoff, according to ESPN, and none in the championship game. One of those three upsets was Washington's win in the Sugar Bowl on New Year's Day.

The Wolverines will become a conference rival of the Huskies beginning in the fall of 2024 when Washington joins the Big Ten.

What time is kickoff for Washington - Michigan?

The actual broadcast starts at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT, but the game will kick off at 7:45 p.m ET/4:45 p.m. PT. 

Where is the College Football National Championship Game?

The 2024 championship game is taking place at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. The stadium is home to the NFL Houston Texans.

What channel is the Washington - Michigan National Championship Game on?  

The game airs exclusively on ESPN. However, if you do not have cable, you have a handful of other options to watch on streaming platforms. You may have to pay, though.
