EWU bounces back, knocks off Cal Poly 48-13

Tuna Altahir scores three touchdowns in rout.

CHENEY, Wash. — Eastern Washington scored on its first play from scrimmage and never let up as the Eagles demolished Cal Poly 48-13.

Michael Wortham began the game with an 86 yard kickoff return to the Cal Poly 14 yard line and Tuna Altahir punched it in from 14 yards out and the rout was on.

Justice Jackson followed with a 19 yard touchdown run and the Eags led Cal Poly 14-2 after one quarter.

The second quarter was a blitzkrieg by EWU. Altahir scored twice, Jackson added another touchdown and Cage Schenck had a 16 yard pick six to put this game to bed.

The Eags rushed for 205 yards on the day and Altahir and Jackson combined for five touchdowns.

EWU's defense held strong today as it was able to play the entire game with a lead.

Altahir finished with 110 yards rushing and three touchdowns on the day to pace the EWU offense.

The EWU defense forced two turnovers: the Scheck pick six and a fumble which led to a touchdown.

Eastern will travel to Bozeman next Saturday to take on No. 6 Montana State.
