Magic take Domantas Sabonis 11th in draft, traded to OKC Thunder

Domantas wrapped up an impressive two-year run with the Zags in March. He earned AP Honorable Mention All-America honors as a sophomore, averaging 17.6 points and 11.8 rebounds.

Domantas Sabonis now has some bragging rights over his Hall of Fame Dad.

The younger Lithuanian big man was selected 11th in the 2016 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic, making him the second Gonzaga player to become a lottery pick.

This is the third Gonzaga player selected in the lottery.

Accordin to multiple sources, the Magic will trade Sabonis to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The trade will send Sabonis, Victor Oladipo, Ersan Ilyasova to OKC and Serge Ibaka to Orlando.

Sabonis went earlier than his father did 30 years ago. The Blazers picked Arvydas Sabonis 24th in 1986, nine years before be continued his illustrious career in the NBA.

Kelly Olynyk became the first Zag to get picked in the lottery, going 13th to the Mavericks in 2013. He was traded on draft night to the Celtics.

His 23 double-doubles were fifth most in the nation. Sabonis was particularly impressive in the Bulldogs' three-game NCAA Tournament run, putting up 19.7 points and grabbing 14.3 boards per game.

Sabonis made an instant impact off the bench as a freshman. He scored 9.7 each time out, and led the team with 7.1 rebounds. As a first year player he hit 66.8 percent of his shots, and is the program's all-time leader in career field goal percentage at 63.2.
