LAS VEGAS — After a hard-fought game, the No. 3 seed Portland Pilots upset No. 1 Gonzaga women's basketball team 67-66 in the West Coast Conference Championship game Tuesday.
The game was heated from the beginning, both teams playing intense defense with full-court presses from the tip-off to the final buzzer. Minimal points were scored in the first half, with the Bulldogs leading by only one point, 29-28 at the half.
Both teams had double digits in turnovers, the Zags having 11 and the Pilots having 13.
The Bulldogs struggled to hit shots, only making 26 out of their 70 shots, with a field goal percentage of 37.1. The team we usually see dominating beyond the arc was only shooting 25% from the 3-point line, only making five 3-pointers throughout the whole game.
