BAHAMAS, The Bahamas — Since losing an exhibition game their first time out on the court this winter, the Zags have been unstoppable. They're now ranked third in the country heading into the Battle 4 Atlantis, and they're 5-0 and favored to win the tournament.
They won their last game by over 40 points while holding the opposing team to just over 30% from the field. Now, they're going to face an athletic West Virginia team in the first round of the Battle 4 Atlantis, and they expect their roster depth to be an advantage the deeper they get into the tournament.
"Pressure defense, very athletic and handsy, good rim protection," head coach Mark Few said. "Very opportunistic on the offensive end, they've got a great offensive player in DeVries, but they've got some really nice shooters."
"I think that coach said it best, we've got eight guys that could probably start on any team," senior guard Khalif Battle said. "I've never been around so many talented guys, people dedicated to basketball. Everybody can pass, dribble and shoot."
The Zags tip off against West Virginia at 11:30am Wednesday on ESPN.
