SALT LAKE CITY — The Gonzaga men’s basketball team will look to keep the magic rolling into the second round of the NCAA Tournament when they take on Kansas University.
The Zags advanced to the second round of the tournament after a dominating win over McNeese State on Friday. Gonzaga had one of their hottest shooting performances of the season hitting 51.7% from the field and 47.6% from behind the arc.
With a win Gonzaga would advance to the round of 16 for the ninth consecutive year.
Kansas advances to the round of 32 after a mildly controversial win over #13 Samford on Friday. The Jayhawks come into the tournament having lost four of their last five before beating Samford by four points.
Before the tournament the Jayhawks told the selection committee, they were fully healthy in hopes of a higher seed. It worked. The Jayhawks got the #4 seed then promptly ruled out their leading scorer, Kevin McCullar Jr. for the entirety of the tournament.

The #5 Gonzaga Bulldogs vs. the #4 Kansas Jayhawks NCAA Tournament basketball game will tip off at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday, March 23. The game will be played at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Bulldogs vs Jayhawks
Saturday’s matchup will be the third time these two teams have matched up on the basketball court. Kansas won the first matchup in 1998 and Gonzaga won the second matchup in 2020.
Gonzaga’s leading scorer is Graham Ike who averages over 16 points per game. In addition to Ike, Anton Watson, Nolan Hickman and Ryan Nembhard all average double-digit points for Gonzaga.
Kansas’ leading scorer, Kevin McCullar Jr. is out for the tournament. He averaged over 18 points per game. He’s followed closely by Hunter Dickinson who averages 18 points per game. K.J. Adams Jr. also averages double digit points for the Jayhawks.
The Jayhawks are averaging just over 75 points per game while giving up nearly 69 per game. Meanwhile, the Zags average just under 85 points per game while also giving up 69 per game. The teams are also very evenly matched when it comes to NET Rankings. The Jayhawks are ranked 19 with Gonzaga a few spots higher at 17.
