Social media reacts as Gonzaga stamps its ticket to the Elite Eight

Gonzaga is in the Elite Eight for the fourth time in program history, so Coach Few obviously did his signature handstand in the locker room.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Gonzaga is in the Elite Eight for the fourth time in history following a 72-58 victory over Florida State in the opening West regional semifinal on Thursday night.

Rui Hachimura scored 17 points to lead the top-seeded Bulldogs, while Brandon Clarke had 15 points and 12 rebounds as Gonzaga returned to the regional final for the second time in three seasons.

Josh Perkins and Zach Norvell Jr. each scored 14 points for Gonzaga, which led most of the game. Florida State pulled within four with less five minutes to play but the Bulldogs closed with a 12-2 run and avenged last year's loss to the Seminoles in the regional semifinals.

Gonzaga's campus was buzzing with excitement before, during and after the game – and the celebrations extended to social media, of course.

NCAA March Madness tweeted a video of the Gonzaga players moving themselves one step closer on the bracket.

The twitter account also tweeted impressive moments from the game throughout the night.

Another tweet from Gonzaga men's basketball shows Mark Few – you guessed it – "doing the Few" as the players celebrate around him. For those who don't know, that expression refers to the head coach's signature celebratory handstand.

Gonzaga basketball also tweeted a photo of alumnus Johnathan Williams, affectionately known as J-3, who now plays for the Los Angeles Lakers. In the photo, he gives Coach Few a big hug.

Other former Gonzaga basketball players also took to Twitter to congratulate the team and express their pride.

Gary Bell Jr. sent a tweet about the win and retweeted another from Gonzaga's associate athletic director.

Dan Dickau called his Zags "elite."

Sports reporters and analysts also congratulated Gonzaga on the big win.

Jeff Goodman, a basketball analyst with WatchStadium.com, also tweeted about the Zags.

"Gonzaga to the Elite Eight. Zags have all the pieces," he wrote.

Seth Davis, a college basketball player with CBS Sports, said Gonzaga's is one of the most amazing stories in all of sports.
