MORAGA, Calif. — The Gonzaga men’s basketball team is back on the court for the final game of the regular season on Saturday against Saint Mary’s. Gonzaga is in the midst of a seven-game win streak and a win against Saint Mary’s would be big for NCAA tournament seeding.
Gonzaga has clinched second place in the WCC tournament with a 23-6 overall record and a 13-2 record in conference. One of Gonzaga’s two losses came in February at home against Saint Mary’s in a controversial ending.
Saint Mary’s has clinched the top seed in the WCC tournament with a 24-6 record and a 15-0 record in conference.

The Gonzaga-Saint Mary’s game tips off in the University Credit Union Pavilion on Saturday, March 2 at 7 p.m. The game can be watched nationally on ESPN.
Bulldogs vs. Gaels
The Zags are back at Saint Mary’s for the first time since February 4, 2023 when the Zags lost 78-70 in overtime. The two teams met earlier this season and it ended with Gonzaga losing 64-62 but not without quite a few fireworks.
Late in the game, a referee made a controversial call in Saint Mary’s favor. The GU student section reacted to the call by throwing trash and towels onto the court.
Gonzaga leads the all-time series against Saint Mary’s 42-14, but in the last six games, Gonzaga is 3-3 against Saint Mary’s.
The Gaels are led in scoring by Aidan Mahaney and have four players who average in double figures. The Gaels as a team average 70 points per game, but their defense is stingy, only allowing just over 60 points per game. That is compared to Gonzaga who averages 86 points per game and gives up just over 69 points per game.
Following Saturday's game, the WCC tournament will take place in Las Vegas beginning on Monday, March 7. Gonzaga will play in the tournament semifinals on March 11 at 8:30 p.m.
