SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane is saying goodbye to five Gonzaga University women’s basketball seniors on Wednesday night.
Kayleigh and Kaylynne Truong, Destiny Burton, Eliza Hollingsworth and Brynna Maxwell are all playing their last regular season home game in the McCarthey Athletic Center at 8 p.m against the Portland Pilots. It's the last regular season game the Zags will play this season before heading off to Las Vegas to play in the West Coast Conference (WCC) tournament.
The GU women won on the road against the Pilots in Jan., 74-53. The Bulldogs are on a 22-game winning streak, winning the regular-season WCC championship title, and going undefeated in the conference as of Feb. 28.

Destiny Burton
Burton is a 6' forward from Wichita, Kansas. She went to Panola College before joining the Zag team as a junior during the 2022-23 season. Burton spent two years at Panola, scoring in double figures 20 times. Her career high is 19 points scored in Dec. 2021.
During her first season at Gonzaga, Burton played in 28 games, started in two and had a season-high of 32 minutes. The forward totaled 304 minutes throughout the season.
Burton scored 43 total points and averaged eight minutes per game in the 2023-24 season.
When talking about Burton first joining the team, head coach Lisa Fortier said, “We are so excited to welcome Destiny to our program. Her physicality and energy are going to be a perfect addition to our frontcourt. She is experienced and has had great success in a variety of different ways offensively. She is a great student and teammate and fits in well with our team.”
Eliza Hollingsworth
Hollingsworth scored a career-high of 22 points and 14 rebounds. She has started in every game this season, totaling 797 minutes and averaging 34 minutes per game so far in the 2023-2024 season. Hollingsworth averages 10 points per game and has almost 300 points this season.
Hollingsworth is a 6 foot 3 inch forward from Melbourne, Australia. She attended St. Leonard’s College in Australia and played in basketball programs and contests from 2016 to 2018.
Hollingsworth also represented Australia on national teams and helped Australia win a gold medal at the Asian Championships in India.
Hollingsworth joined the Zags during the 2019-20 season where she was redshirted.
She then played the 2020-21 season as a redshirt freshman where she was not playing in games the first half of the season due to injury. In her first active season, Hollingsworth played in 10 games, scoring 24 total points.
In her redshirt sophomore season, she played 32 games totaling 364 minutes. Eliza had a career-high of seven rebounds while playing against Utah. She also played in NCAA Women’s basketball tournament games.
The next year, in the 2022-23 season, Hollingsworth started in 27 games. She averaged five rebounds and around nine points per game. Hollingsworth ended the season with 138 total rebounds.
Brynna Maxwell
In the 2023-24 season, Maxwell averaged 14 points per game totaling 426 points as of Feb. 28. She played in a total of 776 minutes, averaging 26 minutes per game. Maxwell started in every game this season and currently leads the team in three-pointers, averaging six per game and making 184 in total.
Maxwell is a 6' guard from Gig Harbor, Wash. Maxwell had a tremendous high school career. As a senior, she was the 3A State Player of the Year, Tacoma Tribune All-Area Player of the Year and The Gateway's Gig Harbor Female Athlete of the Year.
Maxwell then went to Utah for college, she played in 33 games while starting in 11. She averaged around 21 minutes and 11 points per game. During her time at Utah she bolstered an impressive resume, Maxwell became the 30th player in program history to score 1,000 career points. She scored her 1,000th career point in the Pac-12 Tournament Championship game against Stanford. Maxwell scored double figures in 18 games, including leading the team in scoring six times.
Maxwell transferred to GU as a senior, and in her first season with the team she started in 28 games, but played in 32. During the 2022-23 season, Maxwell set a new Gonzaga women’s basketball record, with a free throw shooting percentage of around 93%.
During her first season, Maxwell made the 2023 all-WCC first team, the CSC Academic all-district team and was the WCC Player of the Week twice.
This season, Maxwell is top five in the nation in three point percentage shooting at a 45.1 percent clip from beyond the arc.
Kayleigh Truong
In the 2023-24 season, Kayleigh has started in every game this season and has averaged 12 points per game totaling 355 points so far. She has played a total of 817 minutes averaging 28 minutes per game.
Kayleigh is a 5 foot 9 inch guard from Houston, Texas where she had a good high school career. She graduated in 2019 and led her school to a district championship with a 33-3 overall record her senior season with a perfect 16-0 record in district play.
Kayleigh started at GU as a freshman in 2019. She started in eight games, playing in a total of 28. In her first game as a Zag, she scored a season-high 18 points. She was named to the 2020 all-WCC freshman team.
She played in all 27 games, starting in 26 as a sophomore. Kayleigh led the Bulldogs in assists and was ranked third in the WCC in assists per game with four. She was honored with a 2021 all-WCC honorable mention.
In the 2021-22, the junior guard started in 28 games, playing in 31 total. Kayleigh totaled 751 minutes and scored 347 total points. Kayleigh was also named to the 2022 all-WCC first team.
Kayleigh’s senior year she missed 23 games because of an injury. She played in 10 games, only starting in four.
This year, Kayleigh has returned to the Gonzaga backcourt alongside her twin sister Kaylynne and has returned to form.
Kaylynne Truong
In the 2023-24 season, Kaylynne has started in every game this season and has averaged around 12 points per game totaling 356 points so far. She has played a total of 882 minutes averaging 29 minutes per game. Kaylynne leads the team in assists averaging six per game, totaling 178.
Kaylynne is a 5 foot 8 inch guard from Houston, Texas. She had the same high school career as her twin sister.
Kaylynne came to GU with her sister in 2019. She played in all 31 of the games of her freshman year.
Kaylynne played in all 27 of her sophomore year games, starting in one. She was ranked second in the team in assists with three per game. The 2020-21 season is when the honors started rolling in. This season, she was named the 2021 Wahine Showdown Tournament Most Valuable Player and a WCC all-academic honorable mention.
In the 2021-22 season, the junior guard played in every game and started in eight. She totaled 824 minutes. She was named to the 2022 WCC all-tournament team.
Kaylynne started in every game her senior year (2022-23), she played 1,099 minutes total, averaging 32 minutes per game.
Kaylynne was a stand-out in the 2023-2024 season earning WCC Player of the Year honors. She was also named WCC Player of the Week twice, nominated to the 2023 all-WCC first team and the CSC academic all-district team. She was also named to the 2023 all-academic WCC team and was an AP all-American honorable mention.
This season, Kaylynne is top 10 in the nation in three point percentage shooting at a 44.7 percent clip from beyond the arc. She is also seventh in the nation in assists.
