SPOKANE, Wash. — Two Gonzaga women's basketball players received league recognition on Monday.
Senior forward Yvonne Ejim was named co-WCC Player of the Week. Ejim dropped a season-high of 28 points in the team's 79-50 win over the Eastern Washington Eagles. Ejim made 11 of her 16 shots while also converting six out of seven free throws.
It was the 53rd game in a row where Ejim scored at least 10 points, and it's her seventh game this season where she scored at least 20 points in a game.
Ejim's 28 points pushes her to 8th all-time in the WCC scoring list.
This is the second time this season Ejim has won the award.
Teammate and freshman Allie Turner won WCC Freshman of the Week for the third time this season. Turner accompanied Ejim's 28-point performance with 19 points of her own, converting a career-high five three-point field goals.
Ejim, Turner and the Zags return to action on Thursday, December 19, when they open WCC play against the USF Dons. Tipoff from the Bay Area is set for 6 p.m.
