SPOKANE, Wash. — After a record-breaking season, the Gonzaga women’s basketball team comes out on top, winning the West Coast Conference regular season title for the second consecutive year and the 19th time in program history.

The 2023-24 season has been quite a ride for the Gonzaga women, they started the season in November with a win on the road at Montana. November 9, 2023 brought an overtime loss (77-72) to the then 24th ranked Washington State Cougars.

This would be the first of only two losses for the Zags this season.

The Bulldogs would go on to win five straight games until their next loss (81-70) against No. 20 Louisville.

That was the last time the Gonzaga women would see a loss.

December 3, 2023 would bring another ranked opponent for the Zags. No. 3 Stanford traveled to the McCarthey Athletic Center in Spokane and the Bulldogs showed out. With their first quad one win this season, Gonzaga upset the Cardinals 98-78. From there, the Zags have been rolling.

The new year kicked off West Coast Conference play for the Bulldogs.

After sliding down in the AP poll created frustration for the team, they took out their anger at home against the Pacific Tigers.

The team drilled a school record 19 3-pointers and defeated the Tigers 104-39.

According to the Gonzaga women’s basketball website, this was the second largest margin of victory in program history, with the game being the largest against a Division I opponent. The Zags beat Whitman College 114-40 in the 2010-11 season.

Kaylynne Truong made five 3’s and had 15 points for the Zags. Kayleigh Truong sank two 3’s and Eliza Hollingworth drilled four, both scoring 12 points. Bree Salenbien knocked down three 3’s, establishing a career high of 14 points. Brynna Maxwell joined in on the three point barrage with three of her own and 13 points.
