Gonzaga women hold off EWU late, win 82-80

Kaylynne Truong, Yvonne Ejim both score 23 to pace Gonzaga attack.

CHENEY, Wash. — Eliza Hollingsworth's go-ahead layup with 22 seconds to play proved to be decisive as Gonzaga knocked off Eastern Washington 82-80 in a back-and-forth battle.

Kaylynne Truong and Yvonne Ejim scored 23 points apiece to pace Gonzaga's offense.

Eastern was led offensively by Jaleesa Lawrence who scored 21 points and missed the game winning three point attempt at the buzzer.

Hollingsworth had 12 points and 14 rebounds to earn a double double. Ejim had 10 rebounds as well. Gonzaga had 19 second half offensive rebounds.

Brynna Maxwell had 11 points and Kayleigh Truong was held to just two points and 1-6 from the field.

Jamie Loera hit four threes and had 14 points, Aaliyah Alexander had 19 points and Jaydia Martin had 13 points off the bench in the losing effort.

The Eags will look to bounce back on Sunday afternoon when they host Boise State at Reese Court. Tip off is set for 2 p.m.

Gonzaga hosts Cameron Brink and No. 3 Stanford on Sunday. Tip off is set for 1 p.m.
