SPOKANE, Wash. — One of Gonzaga's best players was recognized on the national stage Monday.
Point guard Ryan Nembhard was named to the Bob Cousy Award Watch List on Monday. Nembhard, who is the younger brother of former Zag and current Indiana Pacer Andrew Nembhard, is one of 20 candidates named to the watch list.
Last season, Nembhard led the WCC with 6.9 assists per game, along with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.9 (4.0 in WCC play). Nembhard assisted five or more times in 29 games last year.
Nembhard also averaged 12.6 points per game last year (13.8 in WCC play).
The Bob Cousy Award is given to the best point guard in Division I men's college basketball.
Fan voting is back once again for the award, with voting starting on Friday, November 1. The 20-player watch list will be trimmed down to 10 in January, then to five in February before a winner is selected in March.
