Gonzaga Bulldogs facing West Virginia in Battle 4 Atlantis matchup this November

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Gonzaga Bulldogs will face the West Virginia Mountaineers in its first game in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament this season.

The Zags and Mountaineers will be facing off against each other for the sixth time. The Zags are 5-0 so far in matchups against West Virginia, last beating them 87-82 in the 2020 Jimmy V Classic in Indianapolis.

The Zags also beat West Virginia in the Sweet 16 round of the 2017 NCAA tournament. Gary Mathews hit a big three-pointer to give the Zags the win in San Jose, California.

West Virginia finished last season with a 9-23, but are heading into 2024 with new head coach Darian DeVries and a revamped roster. DeVries led the Drake Bulldogs to its sixth straight 20-win season last year.

The Zags, on the other hand, appeared in its ninth straight Sweet 16 before losing to Purdue, who were the runners up to UConn in last year's NCAA tournament.

Tipoff between the Zags and Mountaineers is at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27. The game will either be on ESPN or ESPN 2.

After the Zags and Mountaineers play each other, the Zags will play either Louisville or Indiana on Thursday, November 28. After its game on November 28, the Zags would play either Arizona, Oklahoma, Providence or Davidson on Friday, November 29, depending on how the brackets shake out.
