Braden Huff named WCC Freshman of the Week for fourth time

Huff scored 25 points in Wednesday's win over Portland and had 12 big points in Saturday's win over Kentucky.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Gonzaga redshirt freshman Braden Huff earned his fourth WCC Freshman of the Week award following standout performances off the bench last week for the Zags.

Huff had a game-high 25 points in Wednesday night's victory over Portland and gave GU huge minutes, replacing Graham Ike Saturday against Kentucky en route to 12 clutch points in the win.

This is the second time in four weeks Huff has won the weekly award and his conference-leading fourth time this season.

Following a tough performance off the bench against Saint Mary's last week, Huff bounced back in a big way Saturday providing valuable minutes and clutch baskets to lift the Zags to an 89-85 win in Rupp Arena in front of his family and friends.

"He finally had some success against some high-level athletes and a high-level opponent, which was encouraging. I think everybody in the program has the confidence that if they give him the ball, he is going to score, so I think that is a great luxury," Gonzaga head coach Mark Few said postgame.

Huff and the Zags will look to continue their winning ways Thursday night on the road at Loyola Marymount. The tip-off for that game is set for 6:00 PM.
