PALM DESERT, Calif. — The Cougs had an 11-6 lead early in the first half, but Fresno State closed the gap on a run to tie it at 15.
Washington State took a three-point lead at the end of the first half and went on a run in the second half to pull away and advance to the next round 84-73. Nate Calmese led the team with 22 points.
The Cougars play SMU Wednesday in the second round.
