PULLMAN, Wash. — The Washington State University women's basketball team announced that guard Johanna Teder will miss the 2023-24 season due to a "prolonged, acute and chronic injury."

This means that Teder won't be able to finish out her career as a Coug.

According to Head Coach Camie Ethridge, Teder came to the conclusion that the best option for helping her recover was to eliminate all pounding and loading activities for an extended period of time.

"Johanna has been an integral part of our rise up the Pac-12 standings the last three years," Ethridge said in a statement. "She has given her mind, body, and soul to our program. It is heartbreaking to be unable to watch "Yo" finish her Coug career on the court. However, she will continue to be an elite teammate and leader, and will shift her focus and help our team in different ways this year!"

"I am so incredibly grateful for the support I've received from the people around me," Teder said. "I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who has helped me and continues to help me each day. The encouragement and well-wishes from family, friends, and all of you have meant the world to me. Though I will not be playing in the Crimson and Gray this year, I look forward to supporting my teammates as much as I can from the sidelines."

Teder's contributions to the team's success last season include averaging 7.9 points-per-game, scoring in double figures 15 times and shooting 34.4% from behind the arc. In addition, the fifth-year senior finished second on the team and eighth in the Pac-12 conference with 59 made three-pointers.

"I am so proud of Johanna and grateful for the impact she has made in our program," Ethridge said.
