Colorado Rockies ace German Marquez to make rehab start Saturday in Spokane

Marquez is continuing to work his way back from Tommy John surgery.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Exciting news for Spokane Indians fans, Colorado Rockies ace German Marquez will make a rehab start Saturday night for the Indians against the Eugene Emeralds.

Marquez is continuing to work his way back from Tommy John surgery in May of 2023.

Saturday night will mark Marquez's fourth rehab start of the season and his first start ever at Avista Stadium.

Marquez has a lifetime 65-56 record and a 4.41 ERA for the Rockies. He was named a national league all star in 2021 and also won a Silver Slugger award in 2018 when pitchers still hit in the NL.

Marquez threw just 20 innings in 2023 before tearing his ulnar collaterative ligament. He had a 2-2 record with a 4.95 ERA.

In September of 2023, Marquez signed a two year contract extension with the Rockies worth $20 million.

Marquez will throw his first pitch Saturday night at 7 PM and he is slated to only throw a couple of innings.
