SPOKANE, Wash. — Former Spokane Indians infielder Adael Amador has become the second alum from last year's Indians squad to be promoted to the big leagues this season.

The Colorado Rockies selected Amador's contract from AA Hartford on Saturday when second baseman Brendan Rodgers was placed on the 10-day IL.

Amador became a fan favorite in Spokane last season when he hit .302 with nine home runs and 35 runs batted in. He also stole 12 bases on 16 chances.

He finished the season in Hartford after sustaining an injury and hit just .143 in 35 at bats.

This season in Hartford, Amador got off to a dreadful start hitting just .194, but he has been on a tear lately.

In June, Amador hit .318 with three home runs and seven runs batted in including homering in three consecutive games.

In his major league debut Sunday in St. Louis, Amador singled on the first pitch he saw and went on to steal a base, much to the delight of this year's Indians team.

The 21-year-old from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic figures to get a lot of playing time at the major league level until Rodgers returns from the injured list.

Amador joined Jordan Beck as the second member of last year's Indians roster to be promoted to the major leagues by the Rockies.

Indians right-handed pitcher Anderson Bido was promoted to Hartford to replace Amador.

This year in Spokane, Bido was 1-0 with a 3.94 ERA. He is the second former Indians player to be promoted to Hartford this year joining Braiden Ward.

Since getting to Hartford, Ward has been raking. He is hitting .382 with two home runs and six runs batted in and has stolen nine bases.
