2 the Hoop: February 7th

The 5A Inland Empire League girls playoffs began Friday.

WASHINGTON BOYS BASKETBALL

Cheney 70, East Valley 60 (highlights in video)- East Valley led by 12 early in the third quarter as they started on an 8-0 run. Cheney fought back though, outscored the Knights by 15 in the fourth quarter and came from behind to win. Quinsie Goodloe scored 19 points for the Blackhawks.

Chewelah 58, Wilbur-Creston 43

Deer Park 68, Medical Lake 39 (highlights in video)- Deer Park raced out to a 25-9 lead over Medical lake and never surrendered the lead after that. Dawson Youngblood poured it in for the Stags with 30 points and Jobi Gelder was right behind with 23. The win gave Deer Park the second seed in Northeast A for the playoffs. 

Garfield-Palouse 55, Pomeroy 38

Pullman 50, West Valley 47 (highlights in video)- West Valley’s three in the final seconds didn’t land and Pullman pulled off the dub on the Greyhounds' senior night. The Eagles’ Jace Peterson had 16 points, while Ethan Kramer paced Pullman with 15.

Chewelah 61, Wilbur-Creston 28

Curlew 57, Almira/Coulee-Hartline 53

Deer Park 45, Medical Lake 43 (highlights in video)- Darian Herring scored 14 points to lead Deer Park. Both teams will play each other tomorrow at Riverside High School in a tie-breaker game for second place in the Northeast 1A at 6 p.m.

East Valley 61, Cheney 41 (highlights in video)- The Blackhawks were able to keep it close most of the first half, but the Knights pulled away late in the second quarter with a 13-3 run. Ellie Stowell had herself a night as she scored 27 points

Class 5A District 1-2

First Round

Coeur d'Alene 66, Post Falls 50 (highlights in video)- Coeur d’Alene went on a 17-7 run in the third quarter to send them to the Region 1 championship game against rival Lake City. The game will be held at 6:30 on Wednesday at Lake City.

Lake City 57, Lewiston 33 (highlights in video)- Lake City hopped out to a 15-5 lead in the first half and never looked back against the Lewiston Bengals, who hadn’t won a game in conference all season coming in to tonight. Aubrey Avery had 20 points for Lake City. Lake City will play Coeur d’Alene in the Region 1 championship on Wednesday at 6:30 at home.
