WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- A man in jail for shooting a Spokane Valley man in the head in 2008 killed himself in Walla Walla State Penitentiary according to authorities. On Thursday, officials said it happened earlier in September.

David Brewczynski was convicted of First Degree Murder of 80-year-old Kenneth Cross and hiding his body under a pile of clothes. He was found guilty of First Degree Pre-Meditated Murder and Theft of a Firearm.

Cross was discovered in the master bedroom closet of his home at 11611 E. Boone. Neighbors and friends had gone to the home to look for the elderly man after he failed to arrive for a visit with a Greenacres acquaintance as planned.

Detectives determined that the victim had been beaten and shot in he head by someone who forced entry into the home through a back door. The interior of the home had been ransacked and items of value were missing.
