SPOKANE, Wash. — Washington Republican Tiffany Smiley has officially entered the race for Washington’s 4th Congressional District. Smiley previously ran for Washinton Senate in 2022 and eventually lost to Patty Murray.
In a tweet announcing her candidacy, Smiley wrote, “My journey to politics started at Walter Reed Army Hospital almost 20 years ago when I pushed back against gov dysfunction and won. Now, it’s time for me to push back from inside Congress, and win for my friends and neighbors in WA-04. Join me, as we take the fight to Congress!”
Washington’s Fourth District is currently represented by Republican Dan Newhouse. The race is garnering national attention because Newhouse was one of 10 Republicans who voted to impeach former President Donald Trump in 2021.
In addition to Smiley and Newhouse, Republican Jerrod Sessler is also running to represent the Fourth Congressional District. Sessier was recently endorsed by former President Trump.
The Fourth District covers Grant County, Okanogan County and Yakima County.
Also on Monday, Republican Dan Newhouse officially announced he will run for reelection.
