WA Senator Patty Murray chairs hearing on abortion bans since Roe v. Wade overturning

There are currently 21 states across the United States that have some level of an abortion ban, including a near-total abortion ban in Idaho.

WASHINGTON D.C., DC — Tuesday morning, Washington Senator Patty Murray led a Senate hearing highlighting how abortion bans across the country have impacted families since the overturning of Roe v. Wade two years ago.

Democrats at the hearing talked about how they believe current abortion bans across the country are cruel, while Republicans accused Democrats of using abortion rights as a political tool during this election year.

Doctors also spoke at the hearing, who say the abortion bans have forced patients to travel out of state for their healthcare, and they say even some doctors are considering moving out of their home states.

There are currently 21 states across the United States that have some level of an abortion ban, including a near-total abortion ban in Idaho.

The Senate is planning to vote on a measure that would protect birth control access on Wednesday.
