How Washington, Idaho voted in the 2020 presidential election

Washington has 12 electoral votes and Idaho has four. Here's how both states, along with Spokane and Kootenai counties, voted in this year's presidential election.

SPOKANE, Wash. — States around the country released their first ballot counts on Tuesday night in the 2020 Presidential Election between Republican President Donald Trump and former Democratic Vice President Joe Biden.

Washington and Idaho provide a total of 16 electoral votes for the candidates.

While neither state is considered a battleground this year, Washington provides 12 electoral votes while Idaho accounts for four.

As of Wednesday, Washington is projected to give its electoral votes to Joe Biden. Trump took Idaho's electoral votes.

The story is different when you break down votes by county, however.

On election night, President Trump had a slight lead among Spokane County voters.

In Idaho, Trump was handily winning most counties that tabulated votes, except for Ada County, where Biden was barely leading.
